Newlyweds Share Sage Advice About Handling Wedding-Day Hiccups.
Focus on the Meaning of the Day
— Lindsay & Steve Tonon, married Aug. 22, 2009, at Strong Mansion on Sugarloaf Mountain
On the day of Lindsay and Steve’s wedding, it was raining off and on. A mere two hours before the outdoor ceremony, the couple decided to move everything under a tent, but that didn’t solve all the issues the rain had caused. “There was so much rain that it affected traffic for people getting there, and we had to start late. The bridal party was even late,” Lindsay recalls. At that point, she had to shift her focus to what was really important: “It wasn’t about making the guests happy or having the best food or the coolest party of the year. At the end of the day, this began by someone asking me to marry him. As long as we walked out of there married, mission accomplished.”
