I’m Engaged… Now What?
One of the biggest milestones in your life just occurred, and there are a million things running through your mind: set a date; size the ring; tell family and friends; set a date; plan a venue and band; SET A DATE!! Sometimes, it all can seem overwhelming and a little confusing. So, where to begin?
First thing’s first — breathe! The man of your dreams just committed to marrying you and placed that beautiful ring on your finger. That was the hard part. Now, it’s time to get the ball rolling. Call your family and tell them the good news, but be prepared for the questions to start flying. Where and when did he propose? What did he say? Were you surprised? When and where is the wedding? To save yourself a ton of headaches, have answers to these basic questions in mind before speaking with them. It’s okay to be vague, but at least be somewhat prepared.
Celebrations will soon be in order, and begin to consume most of your time. With everyone else wanting to be a part of your exciting news, be sure to plan time for just you and your fiancé. Remember, it’s all about the two of you, after all. From here, plan to knock out the big details before moving on to the finer things. Decide on a date and plan your budget. Choose a church or worship hall (or other ceremony site), reception site and wedding vendor, keeping in mind the love and positivity that will take place on your big day and how all your hard work will soon pay off.
