Holly Elizabeth Metcalf & Thaddeus Franklin Burner

Date of Engagement: October 22, 2011
Cumberland, Md.

Holly Elizabeth Metcalf of Muskegon, Mich., and Thaddeus (Thad) Franklin Burner of Keyser, W.Va., are pleased to announce their recent engagement. The couple currently resides in Cumberland, Md., where Holly, daughter of Ron and Janet Metcalf of Muskegon, Mich., is a hairstylist and salon owner, and Thad, son of Raymond and Shannon Burner of Keyser, W.Va., and Vicki Ginn of Keyser, W.Va., is a high school history teacher and varsity basketball coach. On a weekend getaway to Gettysburg, Pa., the couple’s second visit to the historic town, Holly and Thad stayed at a bed and breakfast fittingly named Sentimental Journey. The couple had been sightseeing all day and just finished dinner. With a few hours to kill before a ghost hunt planned that evening, the couple returned to their room to freshen up. Thad surprised Holly by getting down on one knee and telling her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. “I was in shock,” says Holly. “I said yes!” They immediately called their families to share the good news. A spring wedding is planned for May 19, 2012 in Cumberland.
